Matthew Henry's Concise CommentaryChildren of light. I love that phrase! I am a child of light. You are a child of light. We are children of light because we gave ourselves to Jesus Christ. Can you see yourself as a glowing child of light, filled with the Holy Spirit? You should, because that is who you are through Jesus Christ. I LOVE it!
Carnal affections, fleshly desires, satisfying the physical body, satisfying the flesh all mean the same thing. The old person we were before we gave ourselves to Jesus is still trying to pull us down.
We fight that by asking God to teach us the Bible and what it means. Ask God for understanding, or enlightenment. The indwelling Holy Spirit will guide you. We have God and Jesus in heaven, BUT we also have been given the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth to guide us to a greater understanding of the Bible (John 14:16-17)
